Soul winning for life

Your first step was answering the call and showing up for our soul winning training. The call is for all Christians, but not all Christians are answering the call. It’s a sad reflection on the church that out of 5000 members only a handful are willing to go out. What ever their reasons are, they’re not here. But Praise God for those of you that realize this is the great commission, a commandment, and a very vital part of being a Christian. Some of you may be here purely out of a sense of obligation. Others because your excited about serving the Lord. Some of you may have a real burden for the lost. We don’t care what your reason is, we’re just glad that you’re here!

Bringing in the soul winner’s is much harder than bringing in the lost. I think we’ve made a big mistake by not teaching the new converts that soul winning is an obligation. We’re suppose to be reproducing, discipling, teaching them the way of the master. Instead, we’ve been producing religious church goers, with no desire to serve the Lord.

Very briefly I want to talk to you about your duty to be discipling. I believe that what we’re doing in this class is a big part of discipleship. We are training you to do the things that Jesus commanded us to do. Discipleship is first of all obeying Jesus commands, then helping another to follow that same path. Each and every one of you has some one in our life that you’re a big influence over. Remember, first you learn to walk, then you teach some one else. We’re always reproducing.

I heard from Tommy Barnett the other day that starting a soul winning program was easy, but sustaining a soul winning program was much harder. People are always starting things and never finishing them. They burn out, tire out, get lazy, get distracted.

Soul winning is a command, and we always need to treat it like one. We can’t allow our feelings or desires to dictate whether we go out or not. The big word is commitment. We make a decision to obey Christ command. The decision is for life.

When we started this class it was presented as a 13 week training with a graduation. What this has become is a life style. We are a ministry that is reaching the lost. We are keeping people from going to hell. We are Christians, and this is what Christians do.

So the big question is, how do we remain soul winners. How do we sustain our soul winning fire?

2Ti 1:6 ¶ Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift with in himself.  Timothy was responsible for stirring himself up. You are responsible for your own maintenance. I cant keep your fire burning. I may be able to occasionally fan the flames, but you have to keep the fire alive during the week.

2Pe 3:1 ¶ This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye might be mindful of the words that were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandments of us the apostles and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Peter wrote that they should remember the word and the commandments of the Lord.

Revelation 12:11 And they over came him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.

Our testimony is our greatest tool. Not only to keep ourselves stirred up, but to stir up others as well. What better way to attract others to the ministry than to show some excitement. We need to be very outspoken, full of enthusiasm. Who want’s to follow a dead pan Christian.

Revelation 3:16 I would that ye were hot or could, but because you are luke warm, I will spue you out of my mouth. Luke warm, no enthusiasm, no action, listless, indifferent.

Watch  Ray Comfort videos, listen to the audios, read the books, read your word.

Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

What ever you’re putting into your spirit is what’s going to come out.

Romans 12:2 Be ye not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.

I know that in me there is no good thing. I feed my spirit man so that my flesh has very little control. I constantly brain wash my self with the word, with tapes. I want to serve God with all my heart.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. Who can know it.

It’s not that I don’t trust my own heart. It’s that I know exactly what my heart will do if I neglect my spirit man. The flesh is powerful, and I cant allow the flesh to get in control.

The consequences are too severe.

The best way to maintain your soul winning is to do it. Make soul winning your # 1 priority. Committed for life. Do you think that the Church in Laodicea knew that they we’re becoming luke warm? I think that they slowly quit doing the work of the Lord and began admiring the works that they had already done. They saw the beautiful church that they had built and all the fine things that they had accomplished. They began ministering to each other and quit going to the highways and the byways. Don’t let your self fall into that same trap. Last weeks work is done. We give testimony and move on. Remember, old fruit rots. Fruit is only good when it’s fresh.
